The Cree Women of Eeyou Istchee Association (CWEIA) representatives from the 12 Cree communities met in Val’dor, Quebec on September 26 and 27, 2009. At this meeting the members of the assembly elected an Executive Board of Directors to guide the implementation of the mission of the CWEIA.

The CWEIA advocates to bettering the lives of all Cree women and will strive to work towards developing programs and services for approximately 10,000 women and children. Our main purpose is to decrease violence in all 12 Cree communities by delivering anti-violence campaigns at the local levels and to increase awareness of opportunities available to Cree women in business, entrepreneurship, training and education.
